Carbon SMC - PCM
Carbon Fibre Compression-Moulded
Carbon SMC – Sheet Moulding Compound makes it possible to manufacture carbon-fibre components through high-pressure, high-temperature compression moulding.
Unlike traditional continuous laminates, the material consists of discontinuous pre-impregnated fibres which, as the mould closes, flow within the cavity until the component geometry is completely filled.
This behaviour opens up entirely different design possibilities.




Designing the component.
Carbon SMC / Forged Carbon makes it possible to produce, in a single moulding cycle, three-dimensional geometries featuring:
structural ribs;
localised thickness variations;
bosses and fastening points;
functional features;
complex geometries;
co-moulded inserts.
GCOMP analyses the customer’s 3D model and develops the component, mould and moulding strategy, taking into account material flow, pressure, temperature and the required performance of the finished component.


From prototype to production
Carbon SMC can be used across a wide range of applications, including automotive, mobility, sports, robotics, drones, industrial components, design and high-performance products.
The process makes it possible to combine light weight, complex geometries, repeatability and reduced cycle times, making composite materials suitable for more industrialised production environments as well.
